Insurance and Payment
Insurance: I am in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS PPO, HMO Blue, Indemnity, Medicare HMO Blue, Medicare PPO Blue), Optum (United Behavioral Health, United Healthcare, Mass General Brigham (formerly Allways Health Partners), Health Plans, Inc.), and Point32Health (Harvard Pilgrim and Tufts commercial plans, not Tufts public plans). I do my best to be informed about your insurance coverage; however, you are responsible for understanding how your insurance works and any amounts that are not covered. You may wish to take a moment to call the number on your insurance card with any questions you may have prior to our first meeting. You will want to understand if you have any of the following: co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance.
Private Pay: If you are uninsured or I am not in-network with your insurance plan, you may choose to pay for your treatment out of pocket. Please contact me by phone or email for rates. If you have out-of-network benefits (including a PPO plan), then you may be able to get partially reimbursed by your insurer. At the end of the month, I can provide you a "paid-in-full" bill that you can submit to your insurance company, but I cannot guarantee reimbursement. I reserve several slots for reduced fee treatment for individuals who are unemployed or full-time students. Please contact me for more information.
Good Faith Estimate for private pay treatment: Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Payment: Fees including co-payments are due at the time of service. All client payments must be paid by credit card or with the use of a flexible spending account. You can securely store card information in my HIPAA-compliant client portal. Please make sure I always have your current insurance information if anything changes.
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice. There is a $50 cancellation fee incurred for the first late cancellation/missed appointment (with less than 24 hours notice). For second and ongoing late cancellations/missed appointments, the fee increases to $75.
